Terms of Service
The agreement for using Lorewares, buying and selling cards, and arranging trades through the shop.
Who operates Lorewares
Lorewares is operated by Andrew Ashenden, a Wisconsin sole proprietor doing business as Lorewares. In these terms, ‘Lorewares,’ ‘we,’ ‘us’ and ‘our’ refer to that business. Contact us at lorewares@gmail.com about these terms, an order, a trade or your account.
Lorewares sells its own inventory, including by auction, and operates a marketplace for independent sellers, who may also auction their own inventory. The seller named on an offer identifies whose inventory you are buying. Lorewares also coordinates card trades that pass through the shop for inspection and onward shipment. These activities have different responsibilities, described below.
These terms apply alongside the shop policies, the offer and checkout details you agree to, and any applicable seller terms. A seller cannot remove Lorewares’ stated buyer protections or mandatory legal rights through its own listing terms. Transaction-specific amounts and commitments control for that transaction; later policy changes do not rewrite them. The Privacy Policy explains information handling separately.
Adult accounts and account security
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a binding agreement to create an account or enter a purchase, sale or trade on Lorewares. A parent or legal guardian may use and manage their own account for a younger collector and is responsible for the transactions made through it. Do not create an account in a child’s name or send us a child’s personal details for this purpose.
Provide accurate account and transaction information, protect your password, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access. Choose a public display name that you are comfortable sharing. Do not impersonate another person or business. Someone acting for a business must have authority to bind it; a public shop name does not itself create or change a legal entity.
When you open an account or place an order, we ask you to affirm your adult eligibility and accept the terms shown. We record the version and time of acceptance. That acceptance does not subscribe you to optional marketing or authorize unrelated uses of your information. Existing accounts are not treated as having accepted a new version merely because we publish it.
Listings, checkout and payment
Review the seller, exact printing, finish, stated language, condition, quantity, grading details and sellable unit before buying. Catalog artwork is a reference, not evidence of the condition of an individual copy. Actual-copy photos and listing notes describe the offered item. A case, box, pack and set are different units; the listing identifies what is sold.
Condition involves judgment. Near Mint does not promise a flawless card or a professional grade. A slab’s stated grading company and grade identify that company’s assessment. Lorewares does not promise a future grade, authenticity certification by a third party, or resale value. Report suspected counterfeits or inaccurate listings promptly.
Prices are in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise. Review merchandise, postage, discounts, taxes, store credit and the final total before placing an order. An item in your cart is not reserved. Stock and prices are checked again at checkout. Payments are processed through the payment flow shown on Lorewares; we do not store full payment-card numbers.
We may decline or cancel an order for unavailable stock, an obvious listing or pricing error, suspected fraud or a legal restriction. If we cannot fulfill an order for which payment was collected, we will notify you and refund the affected payment. We will not charge a higher corrected price without your agreement. Do not make a duplicate payment while an existing checkout is still being reconciled; use its order record or contact us.
Auctions and bidding
Lorewares may offer items from its own inventory by timed online auction, and independent sellers may auction items from their own inventory on Lorewares. The seller named on a lot is the seller of that item; Lorewares is the seller of its own lots. Each lot states its opening bid and the time bidding ends. A seller may also set a reserve price, the lowest price it will accept, before the first bid is placed. A lot with a reserve says so and shows whether the reserve has been met, but not its amount, and once bidding starts its reserve cannot be added, changed or removed. Without a reserve, the opening bid is the lowest price the seller will accept. No seller, Lorewares included, may bid on its own lots or have anyone bid on its behalf. Bidding to raise a price for a seller, for another bidder or for yourself under another account is prohibited.
A bid is an offer to buy the lot for up to the maximum amount you enter. The system bids automatically for each bidder, one published increment at a time and only as far as needed to lead, up to that maximum. When two maximum bids are equal, the earlier one leads, and raising your own maximum while you lead does not raise the price, except up to a reserve that your new maximum meets. Bidding is automated: no person accepts, rejects or ranks bids.
Each lot ends at its stated time, as recorded by Lorewares’ server, and is never extended because of bidding activity. A bid received after that time does not count. If a lot has a reserve and no maximum bid meets it by the end, the lot ends unsold: no one wins or has to pay, and the seller keeps the item. Otherwise the highest maximum bid at the end wins, at one increment above the next-highest maximum (or at the opening bid when there is one bidder), at least the reserve when there is one, and never above the winner’s maximum. A maximum bid meets a reserve when it equals or exceeds it.
To bid you must hold an account, be at least 18, confirm your email address and accept these terms; we record the version you accepted with your first bid under it. A winning bid is a binding commitment to buy at the final price. Pay within 3 days of the lot’s end through Lorewares checkout, where postage and applicable tax are added, for delivery to a U.S. address. A paid lot is an order under these terms: its seller ships it with tracking, and it is covered by Lorewares Buyer Protection and follows the returns described in the shop policies.
If a winner does not pay within 3 days, or declines, the win lapses and counts as an unpaid win. Lorewares may then offer the lot to the next-highest bidder at that bidder’s own maximum bid, if that maximum meets any reserve, payable within 3 days; that bidder may decline without consequence. Two unpaid wins within 12 months suspend an account’s bidding until one is more than 12 months old or Lorewares clears it.
Bids cannot be withdrawn. At a bidder’s request, Lorewares may remove that bidder’s bids on a lot for an evident entry error, before the final hour of bidding; the price is then recalculated from the remaining bids. A lot may be cancelled before it ends, or a win before it is paid, by its seller or by Lorewares, only if the item is lost, damaged or materially misdescribed, or because of a technical fault; Lorewares may also cancel a seller’s lot that breaks these terms. Affected bidders are told why, nothing is charged and the lot’s bids end. We may refuse or remove bids that appear fraudulent or abusive, subject to applicable law.
A seller running auctions agrees, before its first lot, to auction only items it owns and holds, shown in photos of the item that will ship and described as they are; never to bid on its own lots or arrange bids on them; to sell each lot to its winner at the final price; and to ship each paid lot with tracking within the seller shipping window. The seller terms and marketplace fees apply to an auction sale as to any order. Lorewares may pause a seller’s auctions at any time; lots already running end as planned.
Lot pages and results are public. They show each bid step, its time and a bidder number that is unique to that lot, or your first name and last initial if you choose to show it, never your account or your maximum bid. The seller of a lot sees the same while bidding runs, and the winner’s order details once the lot is paid, as with any order.
Shipping, returns and buyer problems
Available shipping services, destinations and charges appear before purchase. Different sellers may ship separately and apply separate minimums and shipping thresholds. The shop policies explain singles, sealed products, economy envelopes and tracked services. Delivery estimates are not guarantees unless expressly sold as guaranteed. If shipment cannot occur within a stated period, or within 30 days when no period is stated, we will offer the notice and delay or cancellation/refund options required by law.
Every order paid through Lorewares checkout, from Lorewares or an independent seller, carries Lorewares Buyer Protection. Report a parcel that did not arrive within 30 days after its latest estimated delivery date, and an item that is wrong, damaged, counterfeit or not as described within 30 days after delivery. When no carrier estimate is shown, the latest estimated delivery date is ten days after shipment, or fifteen days after payment for a parcel not yet shipped. A report opens a review; it does not automatically approve payment or establish fault. If tracking shows a parcel delivered to your order address, wait two days (48 hours) after that delivery scan and check with your household, neighbors and any mailroom before reporting it as not received; parcels marked delivered often turn up. When tracking shows delivery to your order address, with a signature record for parcels of $250 or more, a not-received report is closed without a refund, and we will help you contact the carrier. For a verified problem, the amount actually paid for the affected items, their shipping and applicable tax is refunded, or an available replacement is arranged if you prefer; we may ask you to return the item first, and return postage for a verified claim is included. Refunds for an independent seller's order come from that order's payment, which Lorewares normally holds until seven days after delivery: if the seller does not resolve a verified claim, Lorewares decides it and refunds you from that payment. If the seller has already been paid, Lorewares seeks the refund from the seller but does not promise to pay it from Lorewares' own funds. Lorewares refunds verified problems with its own sales itself. We do not promise to acquire a replacement at a later market price. This describes our resolution process, not an exclusive remedy or a waiver of damages or rights available under applicable law, including your right to dispute a charge with your card issuer. The reporting windows do not limit legal remedies for non-delivery, defects or misrepresentation. Untracked economy parcels are covered; we may review repeated untracked non-delivery reports before refunding.
For a change-of-mind return, request authorization within 14 days of delivery. Return the same singles in the condition received, sealed products unopened, and graded cards in their original unaltered holders. You pay change-of-mind return postage; original shipping is not refunded unless required by law. These conditions do not excuse an item that was defective or misdescribed when supplied. Orders cancelled before dispatch are refunded in full; after dispatch, the return process applies.
Use Report a problem for signed-in purchases, or email us with the original receipt for guest purchases. Follow the case’s instructions and deadlines. If the seller does not resolve the problem, ask Lorewares to review it. The requested response period is two business days, excluding weekends and observed U.S. federal holidays, with the exact deadline shown in Central time. A missed response escalates the case for review and does not automatically determine its outcome.
Approved monetary refunds return through the original payment method where supported. Applied store credit is restored as credit. Bank posting times vary. Our process does not remove payment-dispute rights or non-waivable legal remedies.
Damage claims, evidence and returns
Tell us which items and quantities are affected, when you noticed the problem, and what happened. Where reasonably available, provide clear front and back photos, close-ups of damage, any slab certification details, and photos of the packaging and shipping label. Preserve the cards, holders, packaging and contents, and avoid further handling or alteration. Do not send unrelated personal information. Explain evidence you cannot provide so we can consider alternatives; a missing photo, missing unboxing video, or intact outer package alone does not automatically defeat a valid claim.
We compare the order and described condition with available listing, packing, delivery, buyer and return evidence. An uploaded timestamp shows when evidence was saved, not when the image was captured or who caused damage. Tracking establishes delivery events, not the condition of the contents. Near Mint is not a guarantee of a perfect card or a particular professional grade. Known, accurately disclosed wear is considered when reviewing a condition claim.
We may reasonably request inspection and return of the same physical copies supplied, including their original holders, identifying marks and certification numbers. Wait for written instructions identifying the return address and postage responsibility. A carrier may need to inspect the original packaging and contents before a return; we will coordinate the next step. A return may be waived in a documented resolution. We do not require impossible evidence or use an inspection request to remove mandatory remedies.
Buyer-caused damage after delivery, card substitution, altered holders, fabricated evidence and knowingly false claims are not covered by Lorewares Buyer Protection. Any adverse finding must be supported by the available facts, with a written reason and an opportunity to provide further information or request Lorewares review. Suspicion alone is not proof of fraud. Intentional abuse may lead to account restrictions, subject to applicable law and existing obligations.
For a Lorewares sale, Lorewares handles the review and any applicable carrier claim. For an independent seller’s sale, that seller must cooperate, supply fulfillment evidence and handle carrier claims with Lorewares’ assistance where appropriate. Validated refunds and documented seller responsibility are allocated under the seller agreement and payment rules, not automatically to unrelated sellers. Lorewares remains responsible for its own services and conduct.
Carrier insurance is separate from buyer remedies. A shipping fee, tracking service, inspection fee or declared card value is not a promise of insurance. Coverage depends on the actual service or policy, eligible contents, declared and proven value, packaging, exclusions, deadlines and the carrier or insurer’s decision. Keep receipts and cooperate with reasonable claim requests. A pending or denied carrier claim does not itself remove a buyer’s rights or justify delaying a remedy beyond applicable deadlines. We will not knowingly collect or pay twice for the same loss; any adjustment must be documented and lawful.
Reviews record the evidence considered, return or inspection disposition, reasoning and proposed remedy. New relevant evidence can require another review. A missed response deadline escalates a case and does not automatically approve a refund. A buyer may ask Lorewares to review a denial or submit further information. Payment-provider disputes and mandatory legal remedies remain available.
Independent sellers and marketplace fees
Independent sellers are responsible for lawful ownership, accurate descriptions, available stock, timely fulfillment and cooperating with returns and investigations. Lorewares remains responsible for the services it provides and offers a central support and resolution process. Sellers receive only the buyer information needed for the transaction and must not use it for unrelated marketing or disclose it unnecessarily.
Sellers must complete the required onboarding, accept the applicable version of the seller agreement, and keep their identity, representative, payout and shipping information current. The seller terms govern documented recovery, response duties, payout releases, fee-protection eligibility and, for orders placed under earlier seller terms, guarantee-cover eligibility. Fee protection and guarantee cover are not insurance or a guaranteed dispute outcome.
Commission, payment-processing charges, agreed partner rates and payout information are disclosed in the seller workflow and order records. A sale does not mean the funds are immediately withdrawable. Refunds, disputes, holds and payment-provider requirements can affect a payout. Changes to rates apply to new transactions as disclosed, not retroactively to historical orders.
Sales channels and partner terms
Where the buyer pays determines the sales channel. A seller storefront hosted on Lorewares, a shared or creator referral link, and online-paid pickup remain marketplace checkout. Standard commission is 5% of merchandise plus buyer-paid shipping after seller discounts and before tax. Processing is 2.9% of that base plus $0.30 per seller parcel. See sales channels and fees.
An approved creator partnership replaces the commission rate for that seller’s own checkout parcels while active, regardless of referral source. Processing, postage and fulfillment costs remain separate, including for a 0% commission agreement. The portal shows the rate, recorded effective date, revision and expiry. Expired terms return new orders to the standard rate. Referral attribution does not change another seller’s fees or create referral compensation; any compensation requires a separate documented agreement.
Recorded in-person sales are inventory and sales records of payments already collected outside Lorewares. No Lorewares marketplace commission or processing fee is charged for recording them; external provider fees may apply. Lorewares does not process or verify that payment, issue a payout, or provide marketplace order protection. The seller handles payment, refunds, applicable tax and customer service. Reversing the inventory record does not refund money. These distinctions do not limit rights provided by applicable law.
Do not redirect a Lorewares checkout or order outside the platform to avoid fees or misclassify it as an offline sale. Legitimate independently arranged card-show and in-person sales may be recorded afterward. New orders retain their recorded fee schedule and applicable partner revision; later changes do not reprice existing orders or rewrite earlier agreements.
| Sale type | When it applies | Fees | What Lorewares provides |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marketplace checkout | Buyer pays through Lorewares, including a shop storefront, shared link or pickup order. | 5% commission + 2.9% processing + $0.30 per seller parcel. | Lorewares payment, payout and order-resolution workflow. Eligibility rules apply. |
| Creator partner checkout | A seller’s approved partner rate is active when the Lorewares order is created. | Agreed commission replaces 5%. Standard processing and fulfillment costs still apply, including at 0% commission. | The same checkout and order-resolution workflow; the rate covers that seller’s own parcels. |
| Recorded in-person sale | Seller already collected cash or payment through an external terminal. | No Lorewares commission or processing fee. External provider fees may apply. | Inventory and sales record only. No Lorewares payment, payout or marketplace order protection. |
Trade proposals, fees and inspection
A proposal is not a completed trade. Review both sides, quantities, exact printings, finishes, conditions, sealed packaging and your own handling fee before sending or accepting. You must own the cards and products or have authority to trade them and disclose known damage, alterations and authenticity concerns. New proposals and counteroffers exchange cards and factory-sealed catalogue products only, never loose booster packs; additional cash payments are disabled. Older agreements keep their recorded payment obligations.
The handling fee is estimated before proposal submission and acceptance, finalized when the trade is accepted, and paid before shipping as directed in the trade record. An accepted trade retains its recorded fee. Do not mail cash. The handling fee pays for the shop’s service, including insurance on the parcels the shop sends onward; it is not a promise to reimburse a particular card value beyond what these terms state.
Send the agreed cards and products to the shop using the instructions and address in the accepted trade. Keep packing photos, carrier receipts and tracking where available. You are responsible for accurate packing, contents and address information. Shipment to the shop is the sender’s responsibility: use a tracked service and insure the package as the trade record asks. From delivery at the shop until the onward parcel is delivered, the cards and products are Lorewares’ responsibility. We cover loss of or damage to them while they are at the shop, up to their recorded value, and we insure each parcel we send onward for at least the recorded value of its contents, with signature confirmation for parcels worth $250 or more. The recorded value is the per-copy value recorded in the trade when it was proposed, as checked on arrival; where none was recorded, we agree a value with you before dispatch. Report a delay, loss or damage promptly so we can investigate the relevant stage: shipment to the shop, custody during inspection, or shipment onward. Later market estimates do not change a recorded value.
Inspection compares the received cards and products with the agreement and records findings and available photos. Sealed products are checked from the outside for an intact factory seal and the agreed packaging condition; the shop does not open them, and inspection does not verify their contents. It is not professional grading or a guarantee of future value. A discrepancy can require review, the affected participant’s decision, an agreed resolution or cancellation. Do not confirm completion while a reported problem is unresolved. Keep decisions and evidence in the trade record.
If a trade is cancelled or cannot proceed, contact Lorewares before arranging a return. We will review the stage reached, work already performed, reason for cancellation and applicable rights, and communicate the handling-fee refund decision and return or onward-shipping arrangements before you agree to any additional charge. Do not assume a fee is automatically non-refundable or that a carrier claim is the only available remedy. These terms do not excuse negligence or remove rights that cannot legally be waived.
For trade shipments, record the agreed cards and products and their condition, identifying details and available front/back and packing photos before mailing. For the trip to the shop, confirm that the insurance you buy covers trading cards and sealed products and their documented value; tracking alone is not insurance. Preserve packaging and report a discrepancy promptly. Lorewares reviews evidence separately for inbound transit, shop custody and onward transit. A trader’s stated value or later market price is not an automatic reimbursement commitment. Purchase-price refund procedures do not establish a cap for trades. No term excuses Lorewares’ negligence or removes a remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Trade-ins, store credit and closing an account
New store credit, manual credit adjustments and new trade-in offers are currently paused. Existing store credit balances remain available. Historical trade-in and order records retain their recorded terms; contact Lorewares about an existing obligation.
Store credit has no scheduled expiry while an account remains open. It applies to eligible Lorewares items and Lorewares shipping, not other sellers’ charges, and is not redeemable for cash except where required by law. Refunded purchases restore any applied credit as credit.
Use remaining credit or contact us to resolve it before closing your account. Self-service closure is blocked while a balance remains or a credit-funded order requires refund review. Open transactions, disputes or unresolved seller financial obligations can also prevent closure while they are resolved. Financial ledger records are retained. Closure does not cancel existing obligations or remove legal rights concerning a balance.
Your content and acceptable use
You retain rights in content you upload. You give Lorewares permission to host, display and use it as needed for the listing, sharing, transaction, inspection and support features you use, including permitted retention of transaction and dispute evidence. Upload only material you have the right to share. Card art, game names and third-party trademarks remain their owners’ property.
Do not use the service for fraud, counterfeit or stolen goods, harassment, unlawful content, misleading reviews, price manipulation, impersonation, unauthorized account access or attempts to bypass security. Do not substitute returned cards or alter evidence. Report inaccurate or unlawful content through contact or Report a problem, with enough information for us to locate and review it.
We may restrict accounts, remove content or decline transactions to address abuse, security problems or legal requirements, subject to existing obligations and applicable law. Contact us if you believe a restriction or decision is mistaken.
Service limits and resolving disagreements
We work to keep Lorewares accurate and available but do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free catalog or market data, a particular grade, or resale profits. Price estimates, historical prices and suggested trade values are informational and are not guaranteed sale prices or investment advice. Photo matching is a suggestion that requires checking the physical card and printing.
To the extent permitted by law, Lorewares is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost resale profits, arising from use of the service. This does not exclude liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer protections, fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct. It does not create a blanket exemption for loss or damage to cards held by the shop.
Contact us first so we have an opportunity to resolve a disagreement. This does not require you to give up payment disputes, small-claims remedies or other legal rights. Wisconsin law governs these terms without displacing mandatory protections that apply where you live. Lorewares is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Disney or Ravensburger.
Policy versions and changes
The version and effective date identify this document. Previous versions remain available through the policy history. Updates apply prospectively and do not retroactively remove rights or agreed terms from existing transactions. We will bring material changes to affected users’ attention through the service or an appropriate account notice and request agreement where required.
Your acceptance record identifies the Terms of Service version and the Privacy Policy notice shown, with a timestamp and document fingerprints. A privacy notice is an explanation of information practices, not blanket consent to optional marketing or new uses of data. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest continues to apply to the extent permitted by law.
